Lawrence is a founding and managing partner of Messrs. Yu, Chan and Yeung Solicitors established in 1997.

He was admitted as solicitor of the HKSAR in 1994, and England and Wales in 1997. Since the 1990s, he actively acts for Hong Kong listed companies, licensed banks, fund houses, financial advisors, securities firms, insurance agents, insurance broker firms and startup companies in a wide range of deals as well as litigations and alternate dispute resolution, and is knowledgeable about and experienced in the financial services, insurance laws, Fintech, and other business and commercial arrangements. Lawrence is also engaged by Fintech companies to provide advices on Fintech services.

He also advices on the capital / debt market transactions and is engaged as the external legal advisor for listed companies in Hong Kong. Further, he has also been appointed by the broker-dealer firms and financial advisors to draft documents for capital markets and debt market transactions.

In addition, Lawrence has been approved by the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China to practice Hong Kong laws in Shenzhen, PRC.

He has experience in setting up Hong Kong and offshore funds and his team has been engaged as the Hong Kong legal advisor for the funds from time to time.

Lawrence has extensive experience in representing clients throughout the SFC licensing cycle and handling compliance reviews, SFC investigations, enforcement and disciplinary hearings for the clients licensed by the SFC.

In addition, Lawrence is experienced in banking business and advises banking clients on banking operations and compliance. In particular, he is continuously engaged by Hong Kong licensed banks to provide advices on banking law and to draft banking and financing documents. He has also represented Hong Kong licensed banks in regulatory and disciplinary actions commenced by the regulatory authorities.
